In order to offer our services, we collect the following data:

• Account information: your name and email address when you create an account.
• Usage data: information about how you use the app, such as scanned ingredients, generated recipes, saved favorites and completed challenges.
• Preferences: your language and unit of measurement preferences.
• Subscription information: which subscription plan you have and your payment status (we do not store card details — this is handled by Stripe).
• Environmental and climate data: the amount of food and CO₂ you have saved by using the app.
• Technical information: device type, browser type and approximate location based on IP address.

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

• To generate AI recipes based on your scanned ingredients.
• To manage your account and subscription.
• To track your environmental impact and challenge progress.
• To personalize the app according to your language and unit preferences.
• To improve and develop our services.
• To send important notifications about your account or changes to our terms.

To generate recipes and identify ingredients, we use AI services from third parties. When you scan an image or type in ingredients, this information is sent to our AI provider for processing. The provider processes the data for the purpose of delivering the service and does not retain it for other purposes.

We never share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes without your consent.

Payments for our subscription plans are handled by Stripe, a leading payment provider. Stripe collects and processes your payment details (credit card number, expiry date, etc.) directly — this information is never stored with EcoChef. By making a purchase, you agree to Stripe's own terms and privacy policy.

We use local storage and cookies to keep you logged in, save your settings and improve your experience in the app. You can erase this data at any time by logging out or clearing your browser's data.

We take appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, loss or misuse. Access to your data is restricted to authorized personnel and trusted service providers.

Under applicable data protection regulations (GDPR), you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Request deletion of your data ("the right to be forgotten"). You can delete your account directly in the app under Profile.
• Request restriction of the processing of your data.
• Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format (data portability).
• Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

We keep your personal data for as long as you have an active account. When you delete your account via the app, your data is permanently removed. Certain information may need to be kept longer if required by law or to fulfill legal obligations.

Because our service providers (including AI and payment services) may be located outside the EU/EEA, your data may be transferred to countries with a different level of data protection. We ensure that such transfers are made with appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.
